Equine Anatomy/Physiology
Prep Course

This course is designed to give the student introductory knowledge of equine medical terminology, equine anatomy and equine physiology. To effectively communicate with other equine health care professionals, it is important to understand the origins of medical terminology. This course will introduce the student to common root words, prefixes, and suffixes that will be used frequently in the program and will also introduce the student to the basic systems of the equine body from both an anatomical and physiological perspective. Systems covered will include musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic/immune, urinary, digestive, endocrine, reproductive, and nervous.

This course is designed for students who feel they are lacking science-based education, especially chemistry, biology or physiology or for those who would like to refresh their knowledge of the sciences prior to commencing the program.

There will be no formal testing during this course. Checkpoint quizzes will be used for assessment.

The course is 21 hours long and will occur prior to your first semester (not as a pre-requisite for admission). Classes will run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (subject to change).

Cost per student is $600. Contact the school to register.
